Our Mission

The experiences organized here are designed to introduce the artisanal environment of Tavush to tourist groups and individuals. These include master classes lasting 1.5 to 2 hours, during which visitors actively participate and create Armenian ornaments.

In addition to the practical work, time is allocated to the history of crafts in Tavush, particularly focusing on women’s crafts, their types, and local characteristics.

The offerings are diverse and can accommodate up to twenty visitors simultaneously. Carpet weaving and rug making are taught on small looms under the supervision of a master. Upon completing the work, visitors can take home their self-made items – a carpet, rug, or embroidered piece – as souvenirs.

Tourists or groups can choose their activity based on personal preference, such as carpet weaving, rug making, embroidery, or painting on T-shirts.

Visitors will be offered tea and coffee with local sweets during the master class. Guests will also have the opportunity to explore the handcrafted items available for sale at the centre. Telik additionally offers a tour of the centre, where guests can observe artisans creating handmade items.

The experience is suitable for family visits. Services are provided in Armenian and Russian, with a translator available in English.

Armenian Bird-shaped Letters Illustration

The rich Armenian literary culture and the high level of ornamental art have led to the incorporation of aesthetic significance into letters. Great mastery was particularly applied to capital letters (initials). The techniques used were diverse, including floral designs and bird-shaped letters. Capital letters adorned with bird images have been preserved in hundreds of manuscripts, liturgical objects, and church-related artefacts. Our master will teach the art of Armenian bird-shaped letters and share how they have adorned Armenian manuscripts for centuries. You will also have the opportunity to draw a bird-letter or another ornament.
